Kathleen Baba Vundla is an award-winning executive leader, strategist, and visionary founder of the Babazakumi Group. With nearly three decades of experience across South Africa’s leading financial and corporate institutions—including Investec, RMB Private Bank, Standard Bank, Nedbank, Discovery, Leaders Personnel Group, and Fidelity Services Group—she has established a strong track record in driving enterprise-wide transformation and delivering measurable business outcomes.
Throughout her career, Kathleen has held multiple senior leadership roles, where she led a national wellness and resilience strategy impacting over 80,000 employees. Reporting directly to Group EXCO, she provided strategic oversight, strengthened governance frameworks, implemented data-driven interventions, and enhanced multi-disciplinary team effectiveness. Her leadership excellence has been recognised through her selection as an Accenture Rising Star Finalist and a Desmond Tutu African Leadership Institute (AFLI) Finalist, reflecting her commitment to impact, ethical leadership, and organisational excellence.
Academically, Kathleen is highly accomplished. She is a Dean’s Scholar in the Henley Executive MBA programme, recognised for both academic distinction and societal impact. At Wits Business School, she graduated Cum Laude and received awards for Top Student and Top Syndicate Leader.
In addition to her corporate leadership, Kathleen is the Founder of the Minds Transform Lives Foundation and a recognised gender-based violence (GBV) activist and social impact leader. She uniquely integrates strategic insight, operational depth, and human-centred transformation to support organisations in building resilient cultures, enhancing performance, and unlocking sustainable long-term value.
Her work and leadership have also been featured on Radio 702’s Clement Manyathela Show alongside the late Tshidi Madia in recognition of her contribution on Women’s Day.
